Your Beliefs influence your reality
I think it is clearer today than any other day that beliefs are integral in person’s life. Individuals are killing others because of their beliefs, people associate with those with similar beliefs as theirs and people marry only those with similar beliefs as theirs. Beliefs and convictions strongly influence the way we think and act.
More importantly, our beliefs affect our health, either positively or negatively. Imagine someone who has just been told that she is HIV positive. If she believes that HIV is a death sentence and keep on telling herself she is going die soon, guess what would happen to her; her health would deteriorate really fast and she would die, right? On the other hand there are people who live with the virus for ages.
There was a study conducted in the health sector ages ago about ‘the placebo effect’. This means that the doctors would give patience pills not related to their sicknesses, unbeknown to these patients. It is interesting to note that these patients showed an improvement in their health because of ‘their belief’ that the pills they we being given have the healing power to their sickness. This actually means that their beliefs largely contributed to their better health.
I used to say to people that I usually contract colds at least once during the winter season, and I really believed this about myself. My health consistently complied with this belief and I literally got colds each year during winter. I believe my belief got me sick each year during winter, until I declared and believed that sickness is not my portion. I am glad to say that I don’t get colds in winter like I used to anymore! There are also many stories about religious pilgrims that are being healed physically because of their beliefs and faith.
Am reminded of a story I heard about a scientist who mistakenly locked himself in a freezer for the evening. The freezer could not open from the inside and he could not ask for help in any way, but could only wait for someone to come into the laboratory and open the freezer door! He believed that he could only live for 8 hours in the freezer otherwise he would freeze to death.
Looking at his watch incessantly, he realized that the eight hour mark is soon approaching and hence his time for demise. More than 24hrs later one of his colleagues came in and opened the freezer door and found him inside, dead! He believed he would die anyway so this may not come as a surprise to you, right? But the problem is; the freezer was not switched on the whole time he was in it! So, what/who killed him?!
My point is this: Most of our health issues have origins in our beliefs. Change your beliefs, change your life. Each day choose to believe you are in good health and everything about your body is in an excellent condition, and see what would happen! You have nothing to lose. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t mean throw away all your medicines and prescriptions. However, those wouldn’t help if you really believe you would not heal, cure or get better anyway, right?
