There are many instances in The Bible where God or Jesus or angels use the phrase ‘Fear not!’ or ‘Do not be afraid!’, depending on the bible version you read.
So, for a Christian like me, it is NOT profitable to be afraid. We are not meant to be afraid as God is always with us to protect us from harm, or perceived danger. Believing this though is dependent on our level of faith!
Here are few examples of what fear could do to us:
1. Fear could prevent us from possessing our lands:
Look, He has placed the land in front of you! Go up, take possession of it, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, said to do. Do not be afraid or discouraged!”- Deuteronomy 1: 21
2. Fear could prevent us from taking part in a miracle:
When he had contemplated this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. -Matthew 1:20
3. Fear could blind us to our worth:
So do not be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows. -Matthew 10:31
4. Fear could prevent us from partaking in our victory:
But immediately Jesus spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” -Matthew 14:27
5. Fear could prevent us from speaking the truth to those who needs to hear it:
The Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, “Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent, -Acts 18:9
6. Fear could prevent us from facing challenges that precedes our breakthrough:
Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. The devil is about to have some of you thrown into prison so you may be tested, and you will experience suffering for ten days. Remain faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown that is life itself. -Revelation 2:10
Be afraid of ‘fear’ because it can take away your ability to live to your fullest potential, if you let it. Fear is ok with you remaining where you are, doing the same things, and living is the sea of sameness. Fear encourages you to play safe and is ok with mediocrity. Fear could be the devil’s roadblock to your God designed destiny.
So, fear not! But remain faithful even to the point of death!

Wow. I like this. Am afraid to be afraid. May God give me the courage to do things he has put in my heart to do.
Fear is like a muscle that gets stronger and bigger if and when you entertain it.
