Holding position
Months ago this year, 2015, was declared a ‘year of prosperity’ and our expectations of a better and prosperous year were heightened. We looked forward to a change in every area of our lives, including finances.
Fast forward to today, half way through ‘the year of prosperity’, am tempted to take stock and check as to how this year has been for us. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of us are still in similar positions like we were at the beginning of the year. Some may even start to believe that ‘this prosperity thing’ may not happen this year and are starting to give up. They might be saying, they have prayed, and fasted and gave offering and paid tithes, participated in every church activity and did everything an obedient Christian, born again child of God, is expected to do. Yet, visible and tangible prosperity still seem to elude them.
Am reminded of the time when I was about to jet off and our plane was on the runway ready to gather speed and be airborne. However we waited there on the runway for some time, not going anywhere. We were in a holding position, not moving in the direction we were hoping to move. Most of us are in holding position in many areas of our lives, where things don’t seem to be moving forward, and where we feel helpless. Giving up on your prosperity and breakthrough is not an option as much as giving up was not an option when I was waiting in the stationery plane the other day.
You might be saying: ‘I have been praying and my prayer don’t seem to be answered’! Why does God seem so quiet? Well, our pilot/captain didn’t say anything for some time while we waited, and many of us were starting to be restless and regularly looking at our watches. There was nothing we could do then but wait and hope that eventually we would be on our way. They had to get the clearance from the control tower telling them it is ‘the right time’ to take off, and as long as the control tower was quiet, they were also quiet and couldn’t communicate to us passengers. We were in a holding position and it was not entirely comfortable, and we were wondering as to when we would take off. Our concern was about when?! and not about if! We didn’t know the exact time of out taking off but we knew it was going to happen.
Here is the good news; we eventually abandon the holding position and were airborne eventually. It was time for us to take off. Here is my message to you today: Holding positions don’t last forever, so will your holding position. Your time to take off is definitely coming, your will be airborne and you will be prosperous. The prosperity that was declared for this year is your portion. Angels of prosperity have been deployed on your account. Your holding position is just a sign of good things to come, it is not denial of God’s promises on your life. Take heart and don’t give up. The next 6 months are not going to be like the passed six months. You will surely prosper in Jesus’ name, and your prosperity will be tangible.
